Mangalore, Sep 28: Team Mangalore, a hobby group of kite-flyers formed with the aim to uphold Indian tradition, culture and art all around the world recently participated in the Dieppe International Kite Festival, France.

The team comprising Sarvesh Rao, Prashanth Upadhyaya ( MRPL), Dinesh Holla and Subhash Pai ( MRPL), took part in the international event with 175 other participants from over 42 countries like Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, England and Netherlands among others.

One of the reasons that have made this team popular is that it has caught everyone’s attention by placing Indian art forms high in the sky. Art forms like Yakshagana, Kathakali, Bharatanatyam, Bhootaraadhane and Pushpaka Vimaana were imprinted on kites by the team as their signature art piece.

This was the third consecutive visit of Team Mangalore to the Dieppe Festival. The team holds the distinction of being the only one from India to have been invited to France so far. The festival held every alternate year was organized by the mayor of Dieppe to promote tourism and talent among artistes worldwide.

In addition to kite flying, the team also took a special interest to promote South Indian cultural activities like Yakshagana performed live by Prashanth Upadhyaya.

Well-known artiste Dinesh Holla did on-the-spot sketching of various Indian cultures. The live action taking place at the stall added to the interest of foreign nationals who gathered in huge number to learn more about the Indian team and its output.

At the end of the festival, Team Mangalore won laurels and remained everyone’s favourite for its kites and variety in performances.

The Glory of Team Mangalore lies in the Exemplary leadership of Sarvesh, Dynamic creativity of Prashant Upadhyaya and constant guidance of Giridhar Kamath and Nitin Shetty. The team has gained much due to Subhash and his mercury like presence in the field. Giridhar and Dinesh deserves kudos in keeping Team strongly grounded to its core ideals. No Doubt today TM is only Kite Team in India of such universal recognition. Proud to be part of TM.
