Kundapur: 46-year-old pedestrian crossing road dies after hit by speeding bike

Kundapur, Aug 23: A pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a speeding bike on the national highway here in Byndoor on Monday August 23.

The deceased has been identified as Manju (46), a resident of Jaali in Bhatkal.

The incident was reported while the pedestrian was crossing the road. The bike rider also suffered severe injuries in the incident and admitted to the hospital.

Byndoor police visited the spot and registered a case.

    One day we will have a major hit and run episode at the Hampankatta junction. In the name of smart city the Hampankatta junction is developed for everyone except the pedestrians, it is so difficult for the pedestrians to cross since the signal for pedestrians and invisible zebra crossings are not aligned. After spending so much of tax payers money in giving the junction a new look finally the pedestrians are suffering.

    Sorry state of road safety negligence by both pedestrians and riders. Anticipating pedestrians and cyclists as well as others using our unscientifically built roads can prevent these accidents. Stray animals too cause these accidents. If the riders drive within controllable speed limit then most accidents can be avoided.

    these things are common in third world countries like India...no action is taken.. public also is worried only about beef transportation, love jihad, situation in AFghanistan and do not care its own life on the road.. it will take centuries before India gets anywhere near the western safety standards be it on the road or any other field.     Dude !! What is so special about 2014 ?? Were accidents not happening earlier ??? How many road accidents are happening in Mumbai despite a population of more then 1•5 crores citizens ??? Are you not aware that reckless and drunken driving is the root cause of accidents ???
