Mangaluru, Aug 25: Seven Afghan returnees from Dakshina Kannada visited police commissioner N Shashi Kumar here at the police commissioner’s office on Wednesday August 25.
Jagadish Poojary, Melwin Monteiro, Dency Monteiro, Dinesh Rai from Bajpe, Jagadish Poojary from Hosangady near Moodbidri, Desmond Davis D'Souza from Kinnigoli Pakshikere, and Shravan Anchan from Urwa met the police commissioner. They were airlifted from Afghanistan.
Speaking to media, Shashi Kumar said, “Seven of them, who were at NATO military base working in different fields were airlifted. They reached Mangaluru on August 23 and 24. They travelled via Kabul-Qatar-Delhi-Mumbai to Mangaluru. As they were in military base they had no idea about the development taking place outside the base. They were not in touch with other Indians outside the base.
“As of now, no Indians are left in the military base. All have been airlifted. Their military base in-charge assured to airlift these seven who were stranded there and the process was undertaken shift them,” he said.
