Mangaluru, Aug 26: Covid positivity rate, which had registered an upward trend for the last two days, came down to 2.04 percent on Wednesday. With a rise in the number of tests, positivity rate had also increased. On August 23, the district had a positivity rate of 2.69 percent, which had further gone up to 3.27 percent on August 24.
In the meanwhile, the health department, alarmed by the increase of coronavirus infection among college students, has decided to investigate and issue notices to colleges which have failed to adhere to coronavirus guidelines.
Out of 627 students from 29 colleges who tested positive in Dakshina Kannada district during the last two weeks, 327 belong to Kerala. The others are from Dakshina Kannada and other districts and states. Seventy-seven students of a private college in Sullia were found coronavirus positive during the recent three weeks.
The primary and secondary contacts of these students are being detected. Many students who bring RT-PCR negative certificates are turning positive after the quarantine period.
