Mangalore, Sep 30: Ahead of the crucial verdict on Ayodhya issue by the Allahabad High Court on Thursday September 30, the situation in the district is peaceful with tight bandobast and patrolling all over.    

Speaking to Daijiworld, police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that so far 30 preventive arrests have been made with several anti-social elements and suspects prone to create trouble or cause disharmony among them. In all 60 mobile squads are deployed in the city with video cameras to deal with emergencies, he said.

Meanwhile, superintendent of police A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao said that no preventive arrrests has been made so far under his jurisdiction. There has been intensive search at all the crucial check-posts in the district, he added.

Around 100 closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) and cameras in sensitive areas and vital installations have been installed apart from the team of 1500 KSRPs, DR officials, Home Guards, and police officers deployed to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile Udupi district too has geared up with security beefed up in all vital installations and security personnel deployed in all the 247 most communally sensitive areas in the district.

The service buses discontinued a few trips since Thursday afternoon.  Although, the movie theaters were open throughout the day in the town, there were a few viewers. The roads were deserted and shops discontinued business early on the day. 

The district police pressed the services of 7 platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), 8 platoons of District Armed Reserve (DAR), 250 home guards, 8 inspectors, 28 police sub-inspector, 365 police, besides highway police patrol on 60 mobiles as back-up security by erecting 17 check-posts on key junctions across the district.

The district administration appointed special Tahsildars in all the police stations across the district, with the instructions to decide rightful decisions on the spot, if in case the law and order situation faces any threats.
