Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 28: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, Aug 28 reported 207 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi registered 145 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 15,20,342 samples have been tested so far, out of which 14,10,935 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,09,407 out of which 2,565 are currently active.
As many as 312 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,564.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,04,56,020 as fine in 86,011 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 9,40,231 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 145 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 73,549 out of which 1,589 are currently active.
A total of 58 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 145 new patients, 121 are in home isolation while 24 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 145 cases, as many as 83 are symptomatic and 62 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 92 new cases, Kundapur registered 20 and Karkala 33.
Coronavirus has claimed 449 lives in the district so far, including one on Saturday. The person who died on Saturday was from Udupi.
So far, 6,73,374 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,55,114 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 2 are currently active.
