Dharwad, Aug 30: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar, said that the state government tops the country in corruption. He blamed the government for making the people to wait in queues for getting treatment, buy medicines, and for the funeral of the close ones. He also accused the government of hiking property tax and increasing prices of essential commodities at a critical juncture thereby harassing the people who are already facing hardships further.
Addressing a press conference at Hubballi on Sunday August 29, he wanted to know why the chief minister was replaced if the administration was efficient. "Why did the chief minister shed tears in the public before resigning? The party leaders owe an explanation to the people. Even though changing the chief minister is an internal issue of the ruling party, the people want to know whether the corruption linked to Covid handling and getting Yediyurappa to resign had any link.
Responding to the criticism, health minister, Dr K Sudhakar, speaking at Chikkamagaluru, said that the BJP follows its own principles and policies and its leaders take suitable decisions in the best interests of the people. "Congress leaders have no right to meddle with the internal affairs of the BJP," he stated.
He also objected to Shivakumar's demand to make public why Yediyurappa shed tears. He asserted that this is an internal issue of the party and the high command and Yediyurappa are aware of the reasons. Shivakumar has no business to poke his nose into this issue, he said.
