Mangalore: Buoyant Parishioners Celebrate Guardian Angel Feast

Mangalore, Oct 2: The annual parish feast of Church of Guardian Angel, Angelore, here was celebrated with the thanksgiving mass on Saturday October 2.

Dr Joseph Martis, rector, St Joseph Seminary was the main celebrant. Along with him 19 other priests concelebrated the mass.

As many as 3,000 parishioners gathered to celebrate the grand feast of Church.  Earlier in the morning the renovated Golden Jubilee Hall was inaugurated by Dr Joseph Martis, rector St Joseph’s Seminary. It was blessed by Fr Stany B Lobo the parish priest. On the occasion of its platinum jubilee (1935 – 2010) Angelore Parish had planned to renovate the exciting Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall. The renovation work has been executed with the generous contribution from the parishioners and well wishers.

Renovation works include new flooring for hall and stage, new wash basins, separate toilets for ladies, new dressing room with toilet, additional catering area and additional ceiling fans and decorative lights.
Parish priest Fr Stany B Lobo, assistant parish priest Fr Gratian Alvares Parish Council vice- president Jossy D’Souza, Parish Hall Refurbishment Committee which included parishioner R P D’Souza and Edwin Cutino and Parish Council members were also present.

On the day, the’ Platinum Jubilee Memorial Scholarship’ was distributed to the meritorious deserving students of the parish for pursuing of higher studies. Melwyn Peris’s cassette comprising of songs on Late Wilfy Rebimbus and the people who lost their life due to air crash in Bajpe on May 22 was released on the occasion.

After the mass, Fancy Fet and games were organized for the people by the active parish youth group CLC. In the evening, the parish community under the leadership of CLC has organized Baal Angelore (Kids Talent Show) at the newly renovated and inaugurated Parish Hall. Variety of entertainment programmes will be presented on the occasion.
