Mangaluru, Aug 30: Regarding the case of a buffalo found dead with its throat slit, seven accused were arrested on Monday August 30.
The arrested accused are identified as Jayaram Rai (58) from Kotekar, Umar (37) from Mallur, Umar Farooq (42) from Kotekar, Mohammed Suhail (26) from Derlakatte, Mohammed Kalandhar (43) from Someshwar, Mohammed Sinan (22) from Mallur and Ilyas (38) from Someshwar.
A four-wheeler, scooter, Single Barrel Breach Loading (SBBL) gun, machetes, live bullets, rope and wooden log was seized.
It is said that the prime accused wanted to nab the buffalo as it was destroying his plantation. He was attempting to trap it from the past two days, but failed. He then got in touch with a person from Kodagu and purchased a SBBL gun. With the help of others, two shots were fired at the buffalo. They then caught it and slit its throat. They had planned to chop it sell the meat.
Locals, who heard the gunshots, rushed to the spot. However, the accused had fled.
