Congress Sets Oct 6 Deadline for Katta to Quit Cabinet

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct 2: With state’s housing and IT, BT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu’s son Katta Jagadish, BJP corporator from Vasanthanagar, continuing in judicial custody in the alleged bribery attempt to influence a witness in the irregularities in claiming compensation for lands acquired by state Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), the Congress party has threatened to undertake protests and take out a rally in Bangalore if the minister failed to resign by October 6.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R V Deshpande said the minister should either tender his resignation on his own or else chief minister B S Yeddyurappa must sack him from the Cabinet.

''There is no justification for continuing him as the minister after state Lokayukta police arrested Katta Jagadish’s aide Raju while allegedly paying a bribe of Rs 1 lac at the residence of the minister,” Deshpande said.

If Naidu continued to hold the post after October 6, the party would take out protest rally in the city, he declared.

The Congress leaders would also call on Governor H R Bhardwaj and submit a memorandum seeking the dismissal of  Naidu from the government.

Apart from Katta Jagadish, the minister’s wife Soubhagya was also involved in the land scam as revealed by Lokayutka Justice N Santosh Hegde, Deshpande said.

He said Lokayukta investigations had revealed that of the 325 acres of land acquired by the KIADB for the Itaska software company in Jala Hobli in Bangalore North taluk, a portion of land belonged to Soubhagya.

The land was purchased just a few days before the process of land acquisition began, Deshpande said pointing out that it was a clear proof that the minister was privy to the government’s move to acquire the land.

The Congress leader also lashed out the chief minister for defending Naidu on the ground that the question of dropping the minister did not arise as his son was allegedly involved in the scam because parents could not be held responsible for the wrong-doings of their wards.

Deshpande demanded a judicial probe into entire the denotifications issued for lands acquired during the BJP regime.

Yeddyurappa issued notification to denotify acquired lands in Arkavathi layout and favoured his sons and other members of the family. There was no transparency in the denotification of lands in and around Bangalore, he alleged.

Mr. Kunder, you have to believe that Langoolacharya, Belman/USA was indeed a congressman once upon a time. Those days congress didn’t have much opposition and you know about the infamous, dangerous emergency rule of Indira Gandhi. Although he is a knowledgeable person, he may not be aware of the genuine leadership of Sonia Gandhi. He is adamant on what he has seen during his days of congress.

    Mr.Langoolacharya,

Let me just remind you your role model vajapayee during the pre-independance quit india movement days (when scores of then indian national congress workers were being arrested )when questioned by police said he had just come to watch the rally & vouched he did not take part in the quit india movement just to avade arrest.

Moreover, RSS/Jansangh/BJP didn't even spare our father of the nation mahatma gandhi who was killed by Godse who was a idealogue/ardent follower of the above mentioned outfits.

Such great is the contibution of erstwhile jansangh & rss to get us independance & in nation building.

    Satish Kunder, Mangalore/Kuwait,

You are judgemental about other's not vice-versa....go and read comments from begining again.

Power has gone who's head, people will decide Satish, you cannot be your own judge....

Let people decide...now I am not a BJP supporter by any stretch of imagination, having seen congressmen closely, I know how dangerous they are if allowed access to power.

You should practice first, what you preach others Mr Kunder...

Moving forward, I have decided not to comment about your comments.

    Dear Mr. Langoolacharya, Belman/USA,

Two wrongs don’t make one right.

I totally in agreement with you that Congress has done lot of mistakes in last 60 years (including whatever you have mentioned) and the people had punished them time and again. Now if you compare, BJP has surpassed Congress in these matters within two and half years.

Mistakes happen but it requires courage to own mistakes and then only corrective measures can be taken. Problem with BJP leadership and sympathizers like you is lack of courage to accept the mistakes. On the contrary lot of effort is spent in covering up these mistakes by diverting the attention on the earlier mistakes done by other parties (specifically Congress).

This type of mentality sets in when arrogance of power goes to the head and they become blind to the serious problems such as these scams. They think that they are in the heaven (virtual) and refuse to see the real problems of the people. They wake up only when they are thrown out by the people.

BJP may loose power not because of Congress or JDS but because of above mentality of BJP (as happened during ‘India Shining’ campaign).

Who told you that Mr. Janardhana Poojary is my role model? You are too fast in making judgmental comments and that is the problem with you. For your information my role model is my late father who spent most of his life in social work and Gandhian principles.

Just pretending and boasting as master of politics is not important here but the sensible comments. Present and future is of relevance here and not the past unless it is useful to the society.

    Satish Kunder, Mangalore/Kuwait,

Let me say one more thing about your role model Mr Janardhana Poojary, whom I never said personally corrupt...

I want you to do one thing, go find out ,when he was deputy finance minister of Goverment of India, how many nationalised banks moved to new premises in DK, 90% of these building owners in DK belong to which community ?

You want me to give the detailed list??

This is one of the reasons in addition to his absolute lack of control over his tongue is responsible for his defeats in mangalore.....

Poojary is least corrupt in CONgress.....

I never said that people in Congress as saints. People have taught the lessons to all those people you have mentioned. They were thrown out of power and some have vanished.

Do you mean to say that because congress did it, BJP should be allowed to do all those things?

At the moment what is happenning is extream. BJP is like a Business house "Yedyurappa Sons & Co". Today what is relevant is present state of affairs and not the past.

Do you mean to say that we should allow BJP to loot the state royally?

As per you, BJP has been elected by the people for 5 years and everybody should keep mum even if they sell the state? You may be BJP sympathizers but at least have the courage to call spade is spade.

There is a saying” Vinasha Kale Vipareetha Buddhi” and this holds good for the BJP government at the moment.

This serious episode of Katta may snowball to Yeddy's govt in which he himself is guilty of de notification of 'ARKAVATHI BADAVANE'in which Yeddy's two sons were beneficiaries !!!!!

If Katta's head to be rolled then why not Yeddy's ????? IS A MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION BJPwalas has to ans to the general public. We are waiting for 8th wicket down and the appeal is referred to third umpire.Coming few days crucial to Yeddy and Cheddys??This could be wrapping of innings in 28th over due to short of players and captain may call off the play(BJP ruling) for hurt and retire ????
