Mangalore, Oct 2: Religious fervour was in the air as Hajj pilgrims from across the city gathered at the Zeenath Baksh Yateem Khana here on Saturday Oct 2 to attend a training camp organised to give them guidance on the upcoming pilgrimage.

The training camp, attended by hundreds of men and women pilgrims, was inaugurated by Mangalore qazi Twaka Ahmed Musliar with a prayer.

Addressing the gathering, he enlightened the pilgrims on the importance of Hajj and said that every Muslim who has health as well as sufficient wealth must perform Hajj compulsorily.

The resource persons for the camp were state president of SYS Moulana Abu Sufiyan Madani and Dr Moulana Muhammed Fazil Razvi. While the former elaborated on the various procedures and rituals involved in the pilgrimage in Beary language, the latter did the same in Urdu.

A similar programme was also organised by the New Age India Forum at Bolar here.

BROTHER SHAHNAWAZ,I APPRECIATE YOUR ADVISE FOR THE FEMALES TO NOT TO PROCEED FOR HAJJ WITHOUT A MEHRAM.(MEHRAM IS A ARABIC WORD,MEANS A MAN TO THE FEMALE WHOM THE MARRIAGE IS PROHIBITTED FOR HER).IF A FEMALE DONT HAVE THE MEHRAM WITH HER TO TRAVEL FOR HAJJ,THEN THE HAJJ IS NOT OBLIGATORY ON HER.BUT WHO CARE SUCH CONDITIONS?THE SCHOLARS DOES NOT CARE TO CONVEY THE PROPER MESSAGE OF THE RITUALS.IT IS VERY SAD TO SAY THAT FOR MOST OF THE PILGRIMS HAJJ BECAME A MERE JOURNEY TO OBTAIN A LISENCE TO CARRY THE NAME HAJI.CHANGES ARE VERY RARE IN THEIR LIFE.

I wish all piligrims good health and safe journey. May Allah accept their service.

A piece of advise to women who are travelling without a muharram (a relative with whom marriage is foribidden) should not continue their journey as it is one of the preconditions for performing hajj for a female. Please check with knowledgeable scholar. Allah knows the best.
