Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 30: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, Aug 30 reported 193 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 98 new cases and three deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 15,41,778 samples have been tested so far, out of which 14,31,976 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,09,802 out of which 2,352 are currently active.
As many as 256 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.
The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,568.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,04,72,820 as fine in 86,177 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 9,58,424 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 98 new cases were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 73,743 out of which 1,523 are currently active.
A total of 118 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.
Out of 98 new patients, 81 are in home isolation while 17 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 98 cases, as many as 62 are symptomatic and 36 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 51 new cases, Kundapur registered 28 and Karkala 17. Two cases were from out of district.
Coronavirus has claimed 452 lives in the district so far, including three on Monday. The persons who died on Monday were from Udupi.
So far, 7,02,453 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,62,855 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 2 are currently active.
