Udupi, Aug 31: MLA Raghupati Bhat has appealed to the state chief minister to withdraw the weekend curfew stipulation in the case of Udupi district. He feels that the district does not need such a measure.
"On a daily basis, we have been performing three thousand to four thousand tests and the positivity rate here is around 1.5 percent. I agree that the districts sharing their borders with other states need weekend curfew measures, and Udupi is not a border area district," he stated.
Bhat pointed out that the business has just now begun to show signs of recovery. He said he will meet the chief minister on the issue on Wednesday and request him to extend exemption in relation to weekend curfew. "I have spoken to minister Sunil Kumar. Both of us are of the opinion that our district does not need weekend curfew under the prevailing circumstances. We will together discuss the matter and find a solution," he asserted.
