Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 1: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, Sep 1 reported 191 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi registered 91 new cases and two deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 15,59,930 samples have been tested so far, out of which 14,49,713 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,10,217 out of which 2,230 are currently active.
As many as 278 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,579.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,04,84,020 as fine in 86,248 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 9,76,978 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 91 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 73,984 out of which 1,432 are currently active.
A total of 171 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
Out of 91 new patients, 67 are in home isolation while 24 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 91 cases, as many as 65 are symptomatic and 26 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 55 new cases, Kundapur registered 21 and Karkala 15.
Coronavirus has claimed 455 lives in the district so far, including two on Wednesday. The persons who died on Wednesday were from Udupi and Karkala.
So far, 7,52,027 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,67,651 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 2 are currently active.
