Mangalore: North East Students Team in City Celebrate Talent's Day

Mangalore, Oct 4: Sparsha, a city-based social service centre’s North East Students Team (NEST) celebrated fourth Talent's Day at Bishop Jathannna Auditorium of Karnataka Theological College, Balmatta here on Sunday October 3.
Harsha, president of Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists' Association inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsha said that all people and cultures are unique and special in their own way and such richness may be felt and experienced by others only associating with them. Appreciating the friendly nature and hospitality culture of people from North Eastern region, he commended activities of NEST in the city.
Dr Hannibal Richard Cabral, principal of Karnataka Theological College was the guest of honour.
Dr Cabral in his message emphasized on the need for national integration, despite differences in caste, creed, region and religion. He urged the student community to focus on their education positively and assured his full support for worthy causes of students from North East.
Vincent Mascarenhas, public relations officer (PRO) of Masood College of Nursing was the chief guest.
Vincent shared his long association with people of North Eastern region in different times. He gave a glimpse of cultural varieties and musical affiliation of people from North East. He suggested students follow time Management skills in daily life.
Roshan Castelino, president of Sparsha, the parent organization of NEST, in his keynote address explained the birth and growth of NEST in different phases and its present
spread out in Mangalore with hundreds of members.
The day was celebrated with guidance sessions, talent shows, games, fun and cultural performances. Students of North East in 18 educational institutions across the city and its suburbs participated in large numbers.
Elizabeth from Nagaland won Miss North East, Kaiso from Srinivas College won Mr North East in the pageant contest, while Kevi from Meridian College won Best Student Award. Denis D’Silva, director of Sparsha and chief co-ordinator of the event presented the awards.
NEST president Adarsh from A J Institute of Medical Sciences welcomed the gathering. Vice-president Viliezo from St Aloysius College proposed the vote of thanks. Secretary Sumitra from Manipur, PRO Wangtoi from SDM Law College, Atichung from Srinivas College and Aravin from Manipur were the moderators.
Arun D’Souza Ajekar, Praveen Pinto and Roshan Rodrigues compered the programme.
