Bengaluru, Sep 2: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, D K Shivakumar, referring to the repeated jabs at the Congress made by the BJP leaders, duly questioning the Congress contributions, advised them to find out who created the properties which the BJP is selling now. He blamed the BJP for turning the entire country into a graveyard by selling the assets created during the Congress regime.
The BJP government at the centre is selling all the public properties to private companies. Now it has drawn up plans to sell more public assets worth eight lac crore rupees, it is said. But what incited Shivakumar more is said to be the repeated question marks put by the state level BJP leaders about the contributions made by the Congress to the state and the country during its 70 years of rule.
Expressing his anger, Shivakumar said that a minister has questioned what the Congress did all these years. "The BJP is planning to sell 2,700 km of highways, transmission lines, 800 km gas pipeline and 2.86 km cable line. Did they create these assets? The Congress created these assets in the last 70 years. Now these people are planning to leave behind only the ashes of the graveyard for the people," he said.
Shivakumar also expressed his displeasure at the statement of Chamarajanagar deputy commissioner about 'no vaccination, no ration' stand. "The BJP is providing different kind of rule here. Even though 36 persons died for want of oxygen in this district, they claimed in the Lok Sabha that nothing of this sort happened. Even the high court committee has confirmed these deaths. The government gave two lac rupees compensation to the deceased and our party gave one lac rupee each," he recalled.
Shivakumar criticized the government for not taking action against anyone even though 36 persons died. "The government has been strongly backing the deputy commissioner of this district. It is the duty of the centre to vaccinate the entire nation. In the vaccination drive too, they divided the process into three parts. They have to vaccinate all the poor free of cost. Now, they are saying no ration for not getting vaccinated. Then they may come out with 'no vaccination no pension' stand. The deputy commissioner of Chamarajanagar should be suspended first and steps should be taken against him," he demanded.
Shivakumar also came down heavily against the order of the vice chancellor of Mysore University. "This vice chancellor issues an order barring movement of girls after 6 pm and then withdraws the same. What is this mindset? Should we pardon a person who becomes apologetic after committing murder? This vice chancellor too should be immediately suspended from service," he demanded.
