Bangalore: Yeddy Faces Yet Another Land Scam Charge

Bangalore: Yeddy Faces Yet Another Land Scam Charge

Bangalore, Oct 4 (PTI): Stepping up its attack on the alleged land scandals, opposition JD(S) today made a fresh charge accusing Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa of denotifying some land here in violation of court rulings and levelled bribery charges against him.

Former Chief Minister and state JDS President H D Kumaraswamy alleged that Yeddyurappa had denotified more than five acres acquired by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) for a layout at Nagarbhavi here in violation of Supreme Court and High Court orders and over-ruling objections of officials.

The Congress and JDS have been accusing Yeddyurappa of denotifying certain land for the benefit of his family members, a charge rejected by the Chief Minister. JD(S) leader and former Law Minister M C Nanaiah saw the Chief Minister's action as a case of "total bribery and kickback".

Given the marketvalue of Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 per square feet in Nagarbhavi, the value of the denotified land was as high as Rs 250 crore, Nanaiah claimed adding, it's well-known that those who get the land notified normally pay a bribe of around 50 per cent.

It is an absolute misuse of power, he charged adding JDS was looking into the matter from a legal angle. Kumaraswamy, who is also a Lok Sabha member, accused Yeddyurappa of throwing to winds the court rulings and officials' objections in notifying this land.

He said he would hand over documents in the case to Lok Ayukta seeking a probe. Kumaraswamy also said that he would make details of the notified land made during his tenure as Chief Minister public soon on his own volition.

With the opposition parties demanding the dismissal of the BJP Government over the land denotification issue, Yeddyurappa had yesterday announced a special three-day state legislature session next month to discuss the alleged scams that took place in the last ten years.

Mr. Satish Kunder: What you have
stated in correct. If we can
show backbone to the lower grade
bureaucrats that we will cross the
fence and solve the delay by
    approaching their superiors, then
delays will take their wings and
    fly away.

While going through the Indian customs department
a few years back, we had golden
ornaments for our daughter's marriage. We d them and
asked the officer to endorse the
details in the U.S. passports, but
he was trying to teach me about the
    import regulations of golden
    ornaments to get some bribery.

I ignored his elaborate talk to
fool me: went straight to the
superior and the matter was resolved
    within minutes, even without
    entering anything in the passport.

    I am not talking collectively
about all the civil employees as
    corrupted, but the epidemic of
    corruption is rampant in India.

When we are displaying a passive
attitude in front of the officers
to avoid the delay, then they
will very easily take advantage of
us, because that is the rooted
    system of India for generations.
When we approach the top people
in any department, it gives them
an indirect red signal " this fellow may go above me, so I
need to solve the problem at the
    earliest". Even today, a strongly
worded letter of complaint to the
    proper authorities can create
    lightening transfer or other
    troubles to the trouble makers.

Majority of the politicians in the
    world, especially in India are
in politics not to serve the
electorate, but to serve themselves. This cardinal truth
of history is totally hidden to
    majority of the electorate.

The CM of Karnataka is making use
of his once in a lifetime chance to
make him and his family rich, but
to the average people, it seems
like he is breaking the Indian
record of the corrupted politicians. He may either break
the record or be one of the
topmost in the list as events are
taking shape on a daily basis.
The people who have elected him
can be very proud of his accomplishment as a record breaker,
even though it is in corruption.

Mr. Nagesh Nayak, Do you noticed onething after BJP came power in karnataka. Here in mangalore goverment offices like taluk office etc even the peon also demands Rs 500/ for any smaller works. Then You can imagine the heigher officer's demand. As you are staying in bangalore , I think you did not noticed that. Here due to land grabber minister (guess who), it is very difficult for a comman man to build a indipendent house in his own property as getting lisence is very difficult compared to own a flat(land mafia). While observing the current scams done by state ministers including CM, I am not surprized by the attitude of government officials. Minimum one scam will come to light in an month. Good entertaining government. People will get free entertainment.

So.. Mr. Nagesh Nayak, there is no point in accusing any corrupted minister as we (gen. public) are the route cause for the corruption . But can you tell what sense it makes by defending them?? and What for we should defend them? Since they are in a Party named BJP, Is it mandatory to hide their corruption and defend them.

Nice to see different type of comment from Mr. nagesh nayak, Bangalore.

I partly agree with Nagesh that we public are also responsible for the growth of corruption in the country. Today’s middle class are not having patience and they are ready to part with some money so that their work is got done immediately.

If the people are ready to be patient and do not entertain such people still the work can be done because there are still some good people left in the system.

I have never bribed to get any of my work done from the bureaucracy and without any external help or recommendation got all my work done (like Ration card, gas connection telephone connection etc) in Maharashtra (which is considered to be the most corrupt state). But you should follow right procedures and have enough courage to take up to any level. I have found honest and good people at the higher level. Only hitch is, you have to be ready to face the consequential delays.

This should begin from educated lot. You follow proper procedures and then how anybody can refuse you. Moreover today RTI is in place and erring bureaucrat can not escape the transparency.

But as regards this case, Yedyurappa has a lot to answer.

hi, anamika, Managalore, CAN YOU BUILD A HOUSE WITHOUT GIVING SINGLE NAYA PAISE AS A BRIBE?

YOU HAVE TO PAY BRIBE AT EACH LEVEL & EACH DEPARTMENT TO GET DONE YOUR WORK SMOOTHLY. BLUEPRINT APROVAL, ELECTRICITY CONNECTION, WATER CONNECTION,KHATA CERTIFICTAE ETCC.

YOU GO TO ANY DEPARTMENT LIKE CUSTOMS, SALES TAX, INCOME TAX, EXCISE ETCC YOU FEEL THE REALITY.

WILL YOU JOIN THE MOVEMENT OF " CORRUPTION HATAO"

WHO IS GIVING BRIBE & PROMOTING CORRUPTION. GENERAL PUBLIC .

IF GENERAL PUBLIC STOP GIVING BRIBE THERE WILL BE NO CORRUPTION AT ALL.

ALL ARE CULPRITS INCLUDING GENERAL PUBLIC, BUREAUCRATS, MINISTERS & JUDGES.

YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE SYSYTMS BY OVERNITE.

YOU NEED A STRONG LEADER & MASSIVE AGITATION IRRESPECTIVE OF POLITICAL PARTIES.

SIMPLY BLAMING FEW POLITICAL LEADERS WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEMS.

" CORRUPTION HATAO " MOVEMENT SHOULD BE STARTED TO ERADICATE CORRUPTION .

Haha.. Nagesh Nayak Rocks.... That means BJP has the right to loot the state if Congress loots elsewhere isn't it?? You are justifying the actions of corrupted BJP ministers by pointing at corrupted ministers of congress. Then what's the hell there to claim nationalism ideology?? The 60 years mismanagement of Congress in Karnataka is just surpassed by 60 months rules by your own national party. Why you are blind to the mismanagement of your party.

Why don't you have a liberal opinion as a matured citizen of Great India..Day bye day the list of corrupt ministers in Karnataka Including sri sri yedi ji ji unearthing and you are still busy in CWG game mismanagement. If you really cares for national unity and love for nationalism, don't support any corrupt ministers irrespective of their party.

    Dear Valson Mendonsa,

What dignity? There is no dignity in Indian culture and the worst offender is Indian politics! Everybody joins politics not to perform public service, but to loot public assets. Because there is no dignity in the Indian psyche, I love indian politics so much, because everyone has a chance to steal and loot from the system once they get elected to power. That is why we all should join politics so that we call can loot the system before it is too late! Jai Ho India

BSY should ensure that all the scams are unearthed including his predecessors if any. Also there should be an independent enquiry on the people who have been benefitted by this de-notification and if there is a conflict of interest, the de-notification should be revoked immediately. These political leaders stoop to any level for their personal benefit putting entire country to shame.
