Mangalore: Speeding School Bus Hits Compound Wall at Chembugudde Risking Children's Lives

Mangalore, Oct 5: A speeding school bus carrying 8 children hit a compound wall after losing control injuring a woman at Chembugudde, Tokkottu here on Tuesday October 5. Several of these children are injured with one child seriously injured.  

















The bus belonging to Neha Public School, Pakkaladka, Bajal here was on its way to school on the highway near Chembugudde cross when the incident occurred. The road was slopy and the driver, who was speeding lost control of the vehicle hitting a woman, Rajeevi in the meantime. The out of control vehicle then hit a compound wall thereafter and came to a halt.

A major tragic event was averted as only 8 children were in the bus as the area was one of the first pick-up points by the driver.

Aishwarya (16), student of std X and daughter of Vinod of Chembugudde, who was crtically injured succumbed to injuries.

    As Mr. Riyaz mentioned, speed governors and strict disciplinarian action by the RTO against the speeding drivers is the need of the hour. The drivers have become so bold that even otherwise disciplined Govt bus drivers too go at very high speed violating all the traffic rules an the ignoring the plight of incoming vehicles specially the two-wheelers with women and children.
    RTO, are you getting the message? Please do something to control these speeding killer monsters on road.

    School management should strictly impliment speed limit and pick up timings. Make sure drivers follow these rules. Also paint/print school/college telephone numbers with the notice "PLEASE INFORM IF DRIVING IS UNSAFE OR OVER SPEEDING". As a responsible citizen we CAN keep informing the school authriities about such incidents rather than waiting for government authorities to wake up after a disaster. In one incident i have informed school authority and result was immediate. All school buses operated by private institutes and safe driving can be implimented very easily. Thanks.

    I think in manalore should be provided with prper signals everywhere,because of no proper dividers on the road,this leads the driver to drive anywhere and break the rules to drive any side of the road,people in mangalre dont give signal before overtaking the vehicle such as specially buses

    RTO, wake up and make it mandatory to install speed governers in al vehicles. That is the only way to curb these speeding drivers and the day to day accidents. I bet this will reduce the accidents drastically and loss of precious human lives. Try this on a trial basis and you will find the difference.
