Bengaluru, Sep 3: Excise department which is an important avenue for the state government's earnings, has recorded a revenue of Rs 10,197 crore from April to August this year. It has sold 261 lac boxes of Indian Made Liquor and 87 lac boxes of beer. The hike in revenue recorded during this period is 31 percent.
During this period last year, the department earned revenue of Rs 7,755 crore. The sales were particularly good in April (Rs 2,202 crore), June (Rs 2,230 crore), July (Rs 2,233 crore) and August (Rs 2,067 crore).

The department is staring at this financial year's target of Rs 24,580 crore. During the month of August the department saw an increase in the sale of beer. Because of coronavirus fears, sale of beer had been sluggish for the last several months.
