People who own vehicles like Land Rovers, Rolls Royce, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Volvo and other luxury and ultra-modern cars and high priced motorbikes use this petrol. Others who buy new vehicles also go for this petrol, says a partner of Ashirwad Petrol Bunk, Mannagudda in the city.
This variant of petrol was introduced about six months back. This petrol reaches the state in tankers from Gujarat. Initially these bunks had been started in places like Gurugram, Noida, Agra, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru etc. With the people getting to know the advantages of using this petrol, demand for it also is going up. 'The people too are patronising it.
This petrol is different from the ordinary petrol with an octane rating that is 100 as compared to ordinary petrol with a rating of 87. This rating pertains to efficiency. Ordinary petrol comes in orange colour while Octane is red. Octane 100 is an ultra-modern ultra-premium product which improves efficiency of vehicles. Its noise pollution is less and emission of carbon also is less and hence it is environment friendly. Octane has benzene content which makes it fragrant. It has the capacity to bring down heat and friction inside the cylinders.
Bhojpal, manager of a petrol bunk, says that mixing Octane 100 petrol with ordinary petrol does not give the efficiency expected of it. Using Octane alone makes the sound of engines softer and prolongs the life of the vehicles. Those who use it come to know of the difference, he adds.
