Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 4: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, Sep 4 reported 162 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi registered 97 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 15,93,940 samples have been tested so far, out of which 14,83,065 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,10,875 out of which 2,146 are currently active.
As many as 251 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,593.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,05,49,570 as fine in 86,676 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,00,961 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 97 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 74,342 out of which 1,372 are currently active.
A total of 137 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 97 new patients, 76 are in home isolation while 21 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 97 cases, as many as 49 are symptomatic and 48 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 62 new cases, Kundapur registered 17 and Karkala 18.
Coronavirus has claimed 457 lives in the district so far, including one on Saturday.
So far, 7,59,542 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,86,108 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
