Hassan, Sep 6: A youth had continued to have his love affair with two girls of the same village, duly taking care to ensure that his love life remained a secret and the girls did not get wind of it. After the affair recently came into the open and both the girls stood firm on marrying him, the villagers decided to settle the issue through toss.
The girls fought with each other on the issue of marrying the same boy. People of a village in Alur taluk in the district, on Friday last, proposed to decide the matter through a toss. Elders from the three families sat together and discussed but the girls remained adamant. One of the girls tried to end her life to consuming poisonous substance but the villagers stopped her. The village elders then decided to again sit together and sort out the issue. Their effort to convince the girls to decide the issue went in vain.
The elders then said they would decide the issue through toss. Whoever wins the toss will be married with the boy, they stated. They also clarified that all the three have to sign a bond on stamp paper to abide by the outcome of the toss and not to take the matter to police station and other offices. The girls finally agreed.
However, when the coin was about to be tossed, the boy who had remained mute spectator all the time, suddenly rushed forward and embrace the girl who had tried to kill herself. Shocked by his choice, the other girl slapped him hard and went home.
