Bengaluru, Sep 6: Buoyed by the ruling BJP’s victory in the three City Corporation elections of Hubballi-Dharwad, Kalaburagi and Belagavi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the party’s good performance as people’s acceptance of the new BJP regime.
“The results are a pointer to the things to come in future,’’ he said indirectly referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks at Davanagere that State will get a resounding victory in the 2023 assembly polls under Bommai’s leadership.

Giving credit to the BJP national high command, the Chief Minister said the party had faced the corporation polls under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J P Nadda as also his predecessor B S Yediyurappa and State President Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Bommai profusely thanked the voters of the three city corporations for backing the BJP.
Meanwhile, State BJP President Kateel said the party would capture power in all the three city corporations of Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad and Kalaburgi with the help of legislators and MPs.
Yediyurappa too hailed the party workers for their role in the victory and attributed the good performance of the government headed by him and his successor Bommai.
The results were an indication of people asking the Congress leaders to desist from eying the chief ministerial position, Yediyurappa said and alleged that Congress Opposition leader Siddaramaiah had intentionally kept himself out from an active campaign just to show KPCC President D K Shivakumar in poor light.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar as well as Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani have also complimented the voters for reposing their faith in BJP and said the results were a warning to the opposition parties.
However, Shivakumar contended that the results were satisfactory for it as it had worked within the limitations due to COVID-19.
“We have done well in Kalaburgi while our results have improved in Belagavi and Hubballi-Dharward city corporations,’’ he claimed.
He alleged that BJP had misused its power to draw the reservation matrix in such a way as to put it in an advantageous situation and the officials d had adopted a partisan attitude by allowing the BJP to campaign in a full-fledged manner while restricting the Congress citing COVID situation.
The KPCC Chief said the party would concentrate on strengthening the party organisation and espouse the cause of people. Reverses in civic elections do not reflect the mood of the people or give an indication to the assembly polls due in 2023, he added.
