Mangaluru, Sep 7: Fisheries minister S Angara, instructed the taluk health officers (THO) to take steps to conduct more tests wherever the prevalence of covid19 is found to be high. He warned that in case of failure, the taluk health officers will face action.
He was speaking at the district disaster management authority meeting held at the auditorium of the district commissioner's office on Monday September 6. "More tests are needed to arrest the rising trend of the infection. Therefore, district and taluk health officers should concentrate on increasing the number of tests immediately," he said.
Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, asked the officials to abide by the minister's instruction to conduct more checks in areas where the number of infections is more. "We have to implement this instruction 100 percent. The tahsildars and taluk panchayat executive officers have to take charge of this issue and monitor the progress. Primary health centres and health officers concerned should provide Covid positivity rate figures regularly," he directed.
He noted that one lac vaccination Mela is being held in the district on September 8. "Arrangements have been made for the vaccinations in 430 sub centres. Additional staff have been deployed. People aged over18 can get first or second dose vaccination at the Mela. For the convenience of the employed persons, arrangements have been made to continue vaccination from morning to night," he stated.
Angara on this occasion, requested the people to celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi this time too as per the guidelines issued by the government in order to see that the positivity rate does not go up.
MLAs Vedavyasa Kamath and Bharath Shetty, MLC Prathap Simha Nayak, mayor Premananda Shetty, chief executive officer of the zilla panchayat, Dr Kumar, city corporation commissioner Akshy Sridhar, district health and family welfare officer Dr Kishore, and sub-divisional officer Madan Mohan, were present.
