Udupi, Sep 7: "Municipal corporation elections were held in four prominent districts of the state. Elections were held in Gulbarga, Belgaum, Hubballi and Dharwad. And, it is very evident how the state government misused its power. The results have not disappointed Congress. People of the country know how the prices of fuel and essential items are skyrocketing. Though being in such a situation, winning the election shows how they have misused power," said Congress veteran leader Dr G Parameshwar.
He was speaking to media persons here on Tuesday August 7.
He said, “I was active when I was the party president. Now, I have involved myself in the work assigned by the party. I will do the work assigned by the party responsibly. The party has provided several opportunities. In the future too, I will work for the party sincerely.”
When media persons said that Parameshwar is eligible for the post of the chief minister, he said, "The matter is irrelevant now.”
He also said that the Congress will form a government by winning a majority of seats in the future.
Parameshwar further said, “Leader of opposition Siddaramaiah has called a meeting. There is possibility of discussion on corruption in the name of Covid-19, hiking of price of essential commodities, development works halted and other issues in the assembly session.
“There is no provision for groupism in the Congress party. But, I do not know who is creating such rumours,” he said.
