Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 7: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, Sep 7 reported 226 new coronavirus cases and four deaths, while Udupi registered 34 new cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 16,25,416 samples have been tested so far, out of which 15,13,934 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,11,542 out of which 2,252 are currently active.
As many as 106 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
The district recorded four deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,600.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,05,73,570 as fine in 86,811 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,18,214 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 34 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 74,559 out of which 1,372 are currently active.
A total of 79 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
Out of 34 new patients, 26 are in home isolation while 8 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 34 cases, as many as 18 are symptomatic and 16 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 18 new cases, Kundapur registered 3 and Karkala 12 and one case was from out of district.
Coronavirus has claimed 458 lives in the district so far.
So far, 8,13,450 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,95,905 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
