Bengaluru, Sep 12: City police arrested a person who used to get away from them on the pretext that he is a fan of Dr B R Ravikantegowda, joint police commissioner (traffic) and also posing as a RTI activist. He had also pasted a fake sticker of ‘press’ on his two wheeler.
P Girish Babu (58), resident of Thyagaraja Nagar in the city, is the accused who is finally caught by the police. He had removed the registration number plate of his two wheeler and got ‘press’ written. He has violated the traffic rules 42 times and has to pay a fine of Rs 20,200.
Joint police commissioner (traffic) Dr B R Ravikanthe Gowda who came to know about the accused had formed a police team under the leadership of P N Eshwari, traffic police inspector of Jayanagar to nab the culprit. The team traced the accused and confiscated the vehicle.
The joint police commissioner also warned the general public that strict action will be taken against those who try to misuse the names of police officers or media.
