Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 14: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, Sep 14 reported 87 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi registered 57 new cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 16,97,206 samples have been tested so far, out of which 15,84,658 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,12,548 out of which 1,576 are currently active.
As many as 110 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,623.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,03,270 as fine in 87,106 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,57,046 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 57 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 75,259 out of which 1,559 are currently active.
A total of 12 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
Out of 57 new patients, 46 are in home isolation while 11 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 57 cases, as many as 34 are symptomatic and 23 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 37 new cases, Kundapur registered 11 and Karkala 8 and one case was from out of district.
Coronavirus has claimed 459 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,40,373 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,24,513 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
