Mangaluru, Sep 15: Dakshina Kannada district health officer, Dr Kishore Kumar, informed that the man who had been admitted into the district Wenlock Hospital here with suspected Nipah virus infection, has tested negative.
The person concerned works as a microbiologist in a laboratory situated in Goa that manufactures RT-PCR kits.
When going to his residence in Karwar by motorbike, he had drenched in rain. He suffered from fever two days ago.
The man had studied details through Google search option and had suspected that he was infected with Nipah virus. On the basis of this assessment, he had got admitted into the hospital. His throat swab, blood and urine samples had been collected and sent to the laboratory at Pune for testing.
