Chikkamagaluru, Sep 15: It has transpired that a youth who was having with him the video clip of a minor girl in the nude, blackmailed her with the help of this video and raped her repeatedly during the last over two months.
The incident happened within the limits of Sakharayapatna police station limits in Kadur taluk of the district A person who succeeded in luring a minor girl had created a video clip of the girl changing her clothes. He reportedly showed it to her and blackmailed her to come to him whenever he wanted, failing which he said he would upload the video on social media sites. He is said to have threatened to post the video on Facebook and WhatsApp and thereby damaging her reputation.
The person who has been accused of this crime happens to be Anil Naik. He drew the support of Kartik, another youth from his village, for this act. It is said that two others, Balaji and Akhilesh, used to tease the girl whenever the girl moved out.
During the recent Ganpati immersion ceremony in the village, the issue of the video was discussed by a few young men. Some people who heard this, conveyed the information to the girl’s uncle. When he called the girl and questioned her, she narrated her ordeal to him, it is said.
Once the family filed a complaint, the police arrested Anil Naik and Balaji Naik after registering a case. It is learnt that Kartik, another youngster from the village, had provided his house to the accused for the rapes. For two and half months, the girl was raped in Kartik’s house repeatedly. The police therefore have treated him as an accused. It is said that Anil also had recorded the rape of the girl. Balaji and Akhilesh, who had seen the video clip of the girl changing her dress, used to tease her by saying that they had seen the video and liked it.
All these people are expected to be arrested soon. In the past, there was a safe sense of brotherhood in villages but times seem to have changed. People of the said village expect that those involved with this incident will get the harshest punishment possible so that the streets of villages get safer and friendlier and the fear of law sinks in the minds of the rural youth.
