Mangaluru, Sep 16: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal (BD) staged protest against the government over temple demolition in Mysuru on Thursday September 16.
The protestors raised slogans against the state government near Kadri.
Addressing the protestors, Vishwa Hindu Parishad regional secretary M B Puranik said, “This protest is a warning to the government as well to the concerned department over the move of demolition of the temples. The government should resolve the mistake that has been committed and see that it will not be repeated hereafter. They should take the necessary steps to reconstruct the temple demolished in Mysuru.”
VHP, BD district convenor Puneeth Attavar said, “During Hindu festivals, we need to seek permission for loudspeakers. What about the Muslim community? Who gave them the permission for azaan by loudspeakers at mosques? Does anyone have courage to stop it? We demand the resignation of tahsildar, deputy commissioner, revenue minister and the chief secretary. We will give a befitting reply to those who come forward to demolish temples in the district. We urge the government to reconstruct the demolished temple.
“There are different rules for Hindus and Muslims. On Fridays, Muslims block roads and perform namaz. If government fail to stop this, then we will perform Hanuman Chalisa outside every Hanuman temple,” he warned.
“Minister Sunil Kumar promised to work for Hindutva and can do anything for Hindutva. Today when Hindu community’s sentiments are hurt, why is he silent?” he questioned.
VHP leader Murli Krishna said, “We warn the officials who demolished the temples overnight over the court order. To what religion do these officials belong to? If you are government officials, do you not belong to any religion?
“The courts have also given an order for the removal of loudspeakers at mosques which is used for azaan. We challenge these officials. If they have courage, let them remove these loudspeakers.
“During the elections, BJP MLAs said that they will protect Hindu religion and we have voted them. These MLAs should live their statements now and make illegal temples in the district legal and take the responsibility,” he said.
