Mangalore: MCC signs MoU with Canada's Delta to Shape Twin-City Concept

Mangalore, Oct 12: As a sign of pride to the city, Corporation of Delta, Canada mayor Louise Jackson and delegation visited Mangalore on October 12 to give shape to the ‘twin city’ concept between two cities.

After signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), City Corporation mayor Rajani Dugganna said that both the mayors will strengthen ties between the two cities in the field of economics, culture and business, promote cultural exchange and build a bi-lateral relationship, wherein best practices of both cities will be exchanged.
 
The delegation including Louise Jackson and her team-mates chief administrative officer George Harvie and administrative manager Mangit Kiala were given a traditional welcome in the city.

Municipal commissioner Dr K N Vijayprakash said that the MoU intends to foster cross-cultural exchange. Later,  Louise Jackson also interact with the media persons.
 
The team will be in Mangalore for three days and will leave the City on October 14 after visiting important places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts such as NMPT, KCCI, Manipal University and Krishna Mutt among others.
 
The presentation made by former Mayor M Shanker Bhat at Bangkok in 2009 prompted the officials of Corporation of Delta to choose the City for the implementation of collaborative development programme.

Mangalore is considered ideal since it has a good infrastructure including port, international airport and railway stations and has many similarities to share with Corporation of Delta.
