Dubai: SMKC Extends a Warm Welcome to Mandd Sobhann Troupe

Dubai, Oct 13: A ten-member Mandd Sobhann troupe from Mangalore arrived at the Dubai International Airport on Tuesday Oct 12, 2010, to perform at St Mary’s Konkan Community’s (SMKC) musical extravaganza, 'Konkan Showers-2010'.

The troupe, led by Mandd Sobhann Gurkar, Eric Ozario, was accorded a warm welcome on its arrival at the airport by the co-ordinator of SMKC, Jennifer Mascarenhas, former co-ordinator, Noel Mascarenhas , event coordinator, Wilfy Noronha, and other members of SMKC.

Speaking to daijiworld.com at the airport, Eric Ozario said that the Mandd Sobhann troupe will present a variety of songs, including some from yesteryears and the baila numbers, to keep the audience at their feet. “This will be an evening filled with pure entertainment, and we promise that it is going to be rocking one. We are excited to perform here, and are looking forward for the D-Day, i.e., Thursday, October 14," he remarked.

Jennifer Mascarenhas, coordinator of SMKC, exuded confidence that this show will prove to be a memorable one, and a perfect gift to the music lovers of UAE on occasion of the ninth anniversary of SMKC.

"The stage is set, everything is in place, and we just awaiting for Thursday to dawn and ‘Konkan Showers’ to begin,” she said

The Mandd Sobhann troupe, which is in full strength, includes Mangalore's talented singers, Zeena Pereira  and Prakash D'Souza, musicians like international-fame guitarist, Alwyn Fernandes, Sachin, Umesh, Cajetan and Jerome.

The show will be compered by Arunraj Rodrigues, the well known and experienced compere-member of Mandd Sobhann.

‘Konkan Showers’ will be held at the Al Nasr Leisureland on Thursday October 14 at 8.30 pm.
