Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 18: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, Sep 18 reported 133 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, while Udupi registered 86 new cases and two deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 17,41,217 samples have been tested so far, out of which 16,28,124 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,13,093 out of which 1,264 are currently active.
As many as 174 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
The district recorded two deaths due to coronavirus on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,630.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,21,870 as fine in 87,292 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,83,105 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 86 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 75,640 out of which 1,399 are currently active.
A total of 201 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 86 new patients, 71 are in home isolation while 15 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 86 cases, as many as 35 are symptomatic and 51 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 61 new cases, Kundapur registered 19 and Karkala 5 and one case was from out of the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 462 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,71,700 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,63,713 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
