Udupi: SP’s Special Squad Nabs Three, Foils Robbery

Udupi, Oct 14: The special crime squad of the Superintendent of Police (SP), on Wednesday October 13, arrested three youth who were plotting to commit a robbery in the district.
 
The accused have been identified as 22-year-old Bharat, son of Ramachandra, Rajagopala Nagar, Bangalore, 21- year-old Venkatesh, son of Thimmaiah, Gayatri Nagar, Bangalore, and 29-year-old Nayaz, son of Babu Abdul Shariff, Laxmidevi Nagar, Bangalore.  Two  of  their  associates  Vishwanath, son of Ramanna, Bangalore, and Anand, managed to escape.
 
The police recovered seven large-sized knives, one plastic toy revolver, and a stolen Maruti Alto car from the accused.

On a sure tip-off, the police stopped the speeding car with the accused on NH 17 here on Wednesday and arrested the trio.
 
All the accused were involved in major robbery and murder cases in Bangalore and many cases are filed against them in courts and police stations in the state capital.  
 
The arrests were made on the orders of SP Praveen Madhukar Pawar and instructions of ASP M V Venkateshappa, and DySP Jayant V Shetty by special crime squad sub-inspectors Sampath Kumar and Madhu T S along with police personnel Ravichandra, Thaniya, Krishna Prasad, Santhosh Kundar, Sudhir, Fayaz Ahmed, Sudesh, Ramu Hegde, Mahabala, and Sudhakar.
