Mangaluru, Sep 20: Coastalwood and Sandalwood actor Pruthvi Ambar bagged South Indian International Movie Award (SIIMA) as best debutant actor for his Kannada movie ‘Dia’.
‘Dia’ was a blockbuster hit which was released in the year 2020. The movie was directed by K S Ashoka and produced by D Krishna Chaithanya under the banner Sri Swarnalatha Productions.
Pruthvi played the lead in the movie along with Deekshith Shetty and Kushee Ravi. The movie received high praise all over for the performance of Pruthvi Ambar and other co-actors.
Pruthvi will also reprise his role in the Hindi remake of Dia. The movie is also remade in Telugu as ‘Dear Megha’.
Pruthvi, who is popular in Tulu movies like ‘Pilibail Yamunakka’, ‘Yenna’ and the recently released ‘English’. His acting skills led him into the Kannada film industry with ‘Dia’. Since then, Pruthvi did not look back. Offers from other film industries keep pouring in for Pruthvi.
Speaking to daijiworld, Pruthvi said, “I am very happy. Frankly, I surprised to bag the best debutant award for ‘Dia’. As an actor, award on debut is always a special one as one receives it only once in a career. I had to struggle for six years for ‘Dia’ movie which has finally paid off. Presently, I am working in six Kannada movies, one Tamil and a remake of ‘Dia’ in Hindi.”
