Mangaluru, Sep 21: The valedictory of a month-long Tulu-Beary language classes for the police personnel, was held on Tuesday September 21.
As many as 55 police personnel from different police station limits took part in the language classes.
Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, “In the initial days, we started with Tulu language classes which was then extended to learn Beary language. When you work in different places, there is a need to learn local language which makes it easy to communicate with the locals during duty. We could see three police personnel conversing in Tulu after learning the language for a month here.”
During the valedictory function Shashi Kumar sang a Tulu song. Three police personnel shared their opinion in Tulu language and spoke fluently.
Meanwhile, Tulu language teachers Rajesh Kadri and Sudha Nagesh and Beary language teachers Shamsheer Budoli, Razzaq Ananthadi and Ashruddin Sathrabail were felicitated.
President of Tulu Sahitya Academy Dayanand Kathalsar, DCP Hariram Shankar, Dinesh Kumar and others were present.
