JD(S) Rebel MLA M C Ashwath Resigns from State Assembly

Bangalore, Oct 15 (PTI): Rebel JDS legislator M C Ashwath today resigned as a member of the Karnataka assembly apparently to avoid action by his party for defying its whip during yesterday's trust vote, which was won by the ruling BJP government.

Ashwath, an MLA from Chennapatna constituency, submitted his resignation earlier in the day which was accepted by Speaker K G Bopaiah, Assembly Secretariat sources said here.
Ashwath, believed to have been poached by the ruling BJP, stayed away from the assembly proceedings yesterday during which Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa won the motion of confidence for the second time in a gap of four days.

Following Ashwath's resignation, the JDS strength in the 224-member house has come down to 27.

Ashwath remained untraced for the past few days and JDS yesterday complained to Governor H R Bhardwaj that its party legislator had been kept in an undisclosed location by BJP.

Sources in BJP indicated that Ashwath might join the party. JDS had announced it would seek Ashwath's disqualification.

Very sad to see so many comments from many past days by my fellow indians either supporting congress or BJP.Today our position is a single illitrare MLA is deciding the fate of Government of karnataka/India.Do we really need the leaders like Rajiv Gandhi(late),Lalu prasad yadav,Mulayam singh Yadav,Mamata banergee,Narendra Modi,Jayalalitha,Karunanidhi,Sharad Pawar,Siddharamayya,Devegowda,Yeduarappa etc.Are they fighting for the independence of India to support in such a blind manner.
Have we forgotten1) "JALIYANWALA BAGH HATYAKAND" where General DYAR locked the only gate and started firing at freedom fighters and many freedom fighters jumped to open well to save themselves from the bullets2)Shaheed Bhagat singh3)subaschandra Bose and thousands of other freedom fighters who sacrificed their life for the sake of our future.
My dear friends enough is enough.Boycott elections in future and teach the lesson to these culprit politicians and ensure that they are punished.

Disqualification happens only when the party has to file a case with Speaker. In this case JDS did not file the case and he resigned before registring the case.

How in this case the speaker is accepting his resignation? He should be disqualified as per anti-defection law. Speaker should be removed from his post immediately for his partiality as he is misutilizing the anti-defection law for the benefit of the ruling party.

Another operation kamala. Why Eishwarappay was crying that JDS was indulging in horse trading. BJP has been a party with difference - difference in applying yardsticks for its convenience. Now I am sure in the very near future BJP shall lose its majority and virtually outsted from power.
