Bengaluru, Sep 23: State BJP president, Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that 20 legislators from the Congress are eager to cross over to the BJP and that minister Muniratna, has been entrusted with the task of coordinating the process.
Several eyebrows were raised at this statement which was made at a felicitation organized by BJP's OBC Morcha for the ministers belonging to the OBC category, K S Eshwarappa, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Byrathi Basavaraj, Muniratna, Anand Singh, as well as legislators and members of parliament belonging to this category, which was held on Wednesday September 22.
There have been rumours that 20 MLAs from the BJP and the JD(S) would be migrating to the Congress. At this time, Kateel has surprisingly claimed that a large number of MLAs are coming to BJP from the Congress. He said that the backward classes have distanced themselves from the Congress as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has lent them the voice and the rights. He said that the Ahinda movement of Siddaramaiah was limited to bagging power whereas the BJP has genuine concern for their welfare.
Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, speaking on this occasion, said that schemes for the overall development of backward classes will be discussed and implemented and the schemes will reach every household from this category.
Minister Sunil Kumar, national general secretary C T Ravi, OBC Morcha national president Dr Laxman, national general secretary of the Morcha, Yashpal Suvarna, and state OBC Morcha president, Ne La Narendra Babu, participated.
