Moodbidri, Sep 25: Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai has said that cattle theft is indulged in by the people of all communities and it is not confined to particular castes and religions.
He was addressing a press meet held at Moodbidri near here. "It is a lucrative business. People from all walks of life are involved with it," he alleged.
"If you have genuine love for the Gau Mata, take steps to protect her first and undertake measures to preserve our native breeds of cattle. Show your love for the cows by rearing and taking care of them," he demanded.
Mithun said he has 50 cows belonging to different breeds at his home and that he had given away cows to those who have genuine interest in raising them.
"Illegal cow trafficking at Kadaba was stopped by the Congress activists. In Kadaba case, BJP activists were involved with the cattle theft. You have to bring law to protect the cows. There is BJP government both in the state and at the centre. Still why is the party unable to enact a law on these lines?" he wanted to know.
Rai claimed that BJP activists own the beef export factories in Uttar Pradesh. He also said that even BJP MPs own beef export factories.
