Byndoor, Sep 26: The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the United States of America has an incidental connection to Byndoor.

NRI hotelier Anand Poojary hosted PM Modi and took care of his diet during the latter's visit to Washington, DC.

Anand Poojary and his wife Sumitha have lived in Washington DC for the past 35 years. They have been running Woodlands hotel for 25 years.

Anand Poojary is the son of Badiya Poojary and Girija, residents of Kallangadi Mane of Aloor village in the taluk. Though he resides in the USA, he often visits his native place. Due to lockdown and Covid he has not visited his native place for the past three years.

Sources say that when eminent officials, including union government ministers visit Washington, they are often hosted by Anand Poojary. This is the third such occasion on which Anand has hosted PM Modi. The Poojary couple met Modi for the fourth time on Friday September 24 and had a friendly chat with him.

Even in the USA, Modi prefers Indian cuisine. For breakfast he was served idli, vada, sambar and two types of sweet dishes, media reports said.

Modi arrived in the US on September 23 to attend the Quad summit convened by US President Joe Biden, hold bilateral talks with leaders and address the United Nations General Assembly. He is scheduled to return to New Delhi on Sunday September 26.
