Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 26: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday September 26 reported 99 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 40 new cases and no death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,27,830 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,13,876 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,13,954, out of which 1,043 are currently active.
As many as 118 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,11,263.
The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,648, out of which five are non-Covid deaths.
The positivity rate in the district stands at 1.01%.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,69,270 as fine in 87,765 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,21,387 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 40 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 76,153, out of which 373 are currently active.
As many as 73 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 75,307.
Out of 40 new patients, 30 are in home isolation while 10 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 40, as many as 29 are symptomatic and 11 asymptomatic.
While Udupi taluk reported 28 of the 40 cases, Kundapur recorded 7, and Karkala 5.
Coronavirus has claimed 473 lives in the district so far.
So far, 8,89,643 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,90,975 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which only one is active.
