Bengaluru, Sep 26: Former chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday September 25 lashed out at Congress leader Siddaramaiah over the Anna Bhagya scheme that the latter's government had introduced, and said that Siddaramaiah has been 'lying' about the funds reserved for providing rice to the poor.
Taking to Twitter, Kumarasway said, "I have already revealed in the assembly the reality behind the Anna Bhagya scheme. Even then you (Siddaramaiah) are continuing to chant lies. Why you are scared of telling the truth?
"I was the chief minister in the coalition government. When you went to present the budget how much money had you earmarked for the rice scheme? Was it for 5 kg or 7 kg? What is the difficulty in telling the truth? During the coalition government five kg rice was given. Though you screamed about giving seven kg, the money you reserved was for just five kg. For the outside world you are shamelessly saying that Kumaraswamy reduced the rice from seven kg to five kg. Where was the money to provide the rest two kg? Don’t you have conscience?" he said.
"Only with the intention of getting votes during election you are doing politics in the name of rice that people are eating. But you know the difficulty we faced to even accumulate funds in order to give two more kg of rice. When I mentioned the same in the assembly where was your conscience? At least now put an end to your art of lying."
The verbal duel between Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy with regard to caste census report also refuses to die down. Kumaraswamy had retorted on this issue on Saturday and said, "I know that Siddaramiah is efficient in misleading people by telling lies repeatedly. This is a ploy to divide the society. When I was the chief minister in the coalition government, Siddaramaiah was the president of coordination committee. He did not mention the Kantharaju report at the time and also did not show the courage to discuss it. If he tries to resort to this kind of politics people will teach him a lesson. Planting seeds of poison in the minds of innocent people is the height of cheap politics."
Earlier, speaking at Kethaganahalli in Ramnagar, Kumarswamy announced that the JD(S) will hold a workshop from September 27 for four days.
"This workshop has been organized with the aim of strengthening the party. For the first two days, the workshop will be for aspirants of MLA position and JD(S) MLAs. On the third day, a training workshop will be held for women. The workshop will be held for organizing women at booth level.
"Supremo of our party H D Deve Gowda will flag off the workshop. The workshop will be held in seven sessions. JD(S) will not make alliance with any other political party. Gaining power independently is the aim of the party," he said.
