Mangaluru, Sep 28: A video clip said to be connected with the raid by the Bajrang Dal activists on some students who were travelling together in a vehicle, is being actively shared in the social media.
Six friends studying at a private medical college who belonged to different religions, had visited the Malpe beach. When they were returning in the evening, Bajrang Dal activists reportedly intercepted them and assaulted them. The gang is said to have questioned Hindu girls about accompanying Muslim friends. Police inspector Sharif intervened and controlled the friction between he two groups, it is said.
On the basis of a complaint filed by Savio T Alonso (20), a student of the medical college, relating to the incident which happened near Surathkal toll booth, a case under sections 341, 323 and 504 of Indian Penal Code was registered at Surathkal police station.
In connection with the said moral policing incident, Preetam Shetty, district Pramukh of Bajrang Dal, Arshit, Prakhand Pramukh of Bajrang Dal, Srinivas, Rakesh and Abhishek have been arrested in connection with this incident.
According to police, there were no Hindu girls, but two Christian boys and a Muslim boy and three Muslim girls in the vehicle.
