Udupi, Oct 19: Kala Manch, theatre club of Manipal Institute of Communication is all set to present two hindi plays ‘3’ and ‘Kotha Chronicles’, the only one of its kind here in Manipal on Wednesday October 20 at 6.30 pm.

The two Hindi plays based on original scripts will be staged at MIT Library Auditorium that has seating capacity of approximately 250 - 300 persons. The cast comprises students from a variety of colleges like KMC, MIT, MIC, MIM and also MGM, Udupi.

The chief guest for the event are Prof Sundar Sarukkai, professor and director, Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities, Manipal University, Manipal.

About the Plays

‘3’ is a riveting and suspense-filled tale of three strangers, each of whom stakes legal claim to one apartment. What follows are mind games, deceit and clever manipulation on the part of the actual intruder. Things soon take a violent turn as he realizes that the ones he is up against are not as gullible as he expected them to be, and that the apartment is not going to be an easy acquisition. Join this
thrilling narration as the truth unfolds itself through unusual means.

‘Kotha Chronicles’ follows the hilarious and conflicting lives of a famous actress, her assistant, her director, a don, a pimp and an eunuch. Things go helter – skelter as each one’s past becomes entangled with the others’, as we engage ourselves in this laugh riot set in a brothel.

About Kala Manch

Kala Manch is an ISO Certified constituent theatre club of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC). It was founded in 2006 and is now 125 members strong and 14 productions old.

The only club in Manipal to stage Hindi plays, which also usually gets an overwhelming response in the form of an audience as Manipal has a good Hindi speaking crowd. The club is also known to promote original scripts as we are the only club that bases most of its productions on originals.
