Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 28: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, September 28 reported 96 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, while Udupi registered 39 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,44,691 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,30,558 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,133 out of which 983 are currently active.
As many as 108 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
The district recorded two deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,654.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,74,970 as fine in 87,822 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,27,017 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 39 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 76,216 out of which 267 are currently active.
A total of 81 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
Out of 39 new patients, 36 are in home isolation while 3 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 39 cases, as many as 23 are symptomatic and 16 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 25 new cases, Kundapur registered 5 and Karkala 9.
Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,91,171 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,97,621 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
