Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 29: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, September 29 reported 75 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi registered 6 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,52,369 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,38,161 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,208 out of which 952 are currently active.
As many as 103 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,657.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,77,970 as fine in 87,852 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,29,907 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 6 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 76,222 out of which 205 are currently active.
A total of 68 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
Out of 6 new patients, 3 are in home isolation while 3 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 6 cases, all 6 cases are symptomatic.
While Udupi reported 4 new cases, Kundapur registered 1 and Karkala 1.
Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,97,132 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,08,151 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
