Mangaluru, Oct 4: Locals living in Maroli spotted a leopard-like animal running around in the vicinity in the evening on Sunday October 3.

The officials of the Forest department were informed about the matter. They visited the spot. Locals say that there were some stray dogs in the area earlier but now they are not to be seen. They suspect that the animal might have devoured them.

Giving the details, forest officer Prashant Pai said, “In the evening on Sunday, a leopard was said to be spotted at Maroli. A girl has made the video of the same. But others did not see it. Whether it is leopard or Hyena is not confirmed. As it was getting dark the exact animal could not be made out.

“The face of the animal cannot be seen properly in the video. The probability of that being Hyena is more as there are many Hyenas around Pacchanady area. There are chances that the Hyena might have strayed from Pacchanady to Maroli,” he said.
