Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 4: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, October 4 reported 45 new coronavirus cases and three deaths, while Udupi registered 6 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 19,00,084 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,85,475 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,609 out of which 809 are currently active.
As many as 125 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.
The district recorded three deaths due to coronavirus on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,666.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,93,570 as fine in 88,008 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,46,314 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 6 new cases were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 76,384 out of which 103 are currently active.
A total of 6 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.
Out of 6 new patients, 2 are in home isolation while 4 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 6 cases, 5 cases are symptomatic and 1 is asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 3 new cases, Kundapur registered 1 and Karkala 1 and 1 case was from out of the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,99,959 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,15,262 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
