Mangaluru, Oct 5: Four accused were arrested regarding the case where a petrol pump manager was robbed while he was on his way to the bank to deposit cash. The incident took place on September 28 at Chilimbi.
The arrested accused are Shyam Shankar from Shakthinagar who works at Ashrivad petrol pump, Abhishek from Kudupu working as a manager in bar at Mumbai, and Karthik and Sagar from Shakthingar, who work as painters. All the accused are aged between 26-32.
It may be recalled, the victim, Bojappa, was on his way to the bank to deposit cash when he was waylaid by miscreants. They attacked Bojappa and robbed Rs 4.20 lac from him.
Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, “Investigation revealed that Shyam Shankar was an employee from several years in the same petrol pump where Bojappa was working. He and other accused planned the robbery on September 13 at Shakthinagar. They decided to execute the plot on September 26, but failed before successfully executing the plan two days later. After the robbery, they moved to Mumbai.
“Rs 60,00 cash, a vehicle and mobile phones were seized from the accused possession. Three of the accused have criminal background which includes murder, rioting, extortion and NDPS. It is said that the accused had handed over the money to someone in Mumbai and bought some items. More arrests are yet to be made which includes those who helped the accused in the crime.
“I urge all businessmen to take preventive measures while carrying money and go along with one or two members,” he said.
